The Lady Hawks were started by Bruce Vanover and Dean Denlinger in the winter of 2003, because they wanted to provide
their girls an opportunity to advance their basketball skills without taking the extra time traveling to Dayton's organizations.
Combine that with their desire to improve the overall basketball skill level of girls that are located "North
of Dayton" and you have the creation of the Miami Valley Lady Hawks.
The inaugural season provided 89 girls on 9 teams the opportunity to represent the Lady Hawks in 6 tournaments starting
the last weekend in March and ending the last weekend in May. Girls came from 18 different local schools, including
Miami East, Troy Christian, Bradford, West Milton, Troy, Tecumseh, Northmont, Piqua, Versailles, Bethel, Tipp City,
